Wolverines Showcase Their Talents As most people know, the end of the year is busy for students with academics and sports. We are so proud of our Wolverines. On May 9, 2013, the Wolverines, in collaboration with San Tan Foothills High School, under the direction of band director William McDonald, put on an amazing concert for staff and parents. On May 10, 2013, the Wolverine dance class, in collaboration with the San Tan Foothills Dance classes under the direction of Ms. Lindsey Cain, put on a show called “Some Nights." The show featured the Wolverines and the Sabercats performing a variety of dance numbers. There was a full house for the performance. On May 10, 2013, the Wolverine wrestlers went to the Desert Middle Schools Athletic League Championships. The Wolverines took second, and many of our wrestlers medaled in their weight classes. Congratulations to the team, who demonstrated terrific sportsmanship all season. Saturday, May 11, 2013, the Wolverines participated in the Desert Middle School Athletic Leagues Championship for girls soccer and boys basketball. Again, the Wolverines demonstrated terrific sportsmanship throughout the tournament, which was held in Apache Junction. We are so proud of our students and our coaches this year. Thank you for a great year! Wolverines Finish Strong at the Florence Open
Congratulations to the Mountain Vista Middle School Wolverine Wrestling team for their outstanding performance at the Florence Open Wrestling Tournament held at Poston Butte High School on Saturday, May 4, 2012. The Wolverines came home with quite a few medals, and the team demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship throughout the tournament. Way to Go Wolverines! We are so proud of you. TAP Updates: Field Testing Has your sixth, seventh, or eighth grade student come home and informed you that they took a math test in their language arts, social studies, or science class? We are working with virtually every student at Mountain Vista on his/her problem-solving skills. Utilizing a strategy called “IDEAL,” our teachers are helping students develop the problem solving skills necessary for success in high school, college, careers, and beyond. Throughout the remainder of the school year, Mountain Vista Middle School teachers are training our students how to define problems and then solve the problems. We present a new concept of the “IDEAL” strategy each week to students in their classroom. We hope you take a moment to ask your child(ren) what he/she is learning during field testing. Wolverines at Math Competition Congratulations to the Mountain Vista Middle School Wolverines who participated in the CAC middle school math competition on Friday, November 2, 2012 in Apache Junction. Four Wolverines made it into the finals: Sydney Freund (eighth grade), Dynorah Alvarez (eighth grade), Caleb Wright (seventh grade), and Kody Swencki (seventh grade). Although the Wolverines did not take home the win, congratulations to our two seventh grade students, Caleb Wright for placing fourth and Kody Swencki for placing sixth overall. The students enjoyed the experience and are looking forward to next year’s competition. Way to go, Wolverines!
